In late October 2023, the Basque Office for Health Technology Assessment (OSTEBA) is actively engaged in conducting Health Technology Assessments (HTAs) across various medical fields. These assessments encompass evaluations in areas such as cardiovascular health, diagnostic imaging, e-health, otolaryngology (ENT), intensive care units (ICU) and operating rooms (OR), nephrology, urology, in vitro diagnostics (IVD), neurovascular medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, surgical procedures, and several other domains.

  1. Telemonitoring and Computerized Management: OSTEBA is exploring the use of telemonitoring and computerized management systems for patients undergoing home dialysis and rehabilitation activities.
  2. Cardiovascular Monitoring: An evaluation of a cardiovascular monitoring system that employs photoplethysmography technology.
  3. Brain Aneurysm Treatment: Assessment of an intrasaccular device designed for endovascular treatment of brain aneurysms.
  4. Breast Cancer Screening: Investigating the clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness of incorporating artificial intelligence into breast cancer screening programs.
  5. Adaptive Radiotherapy: Assessing the utilization and benefits of adaptive radiotherapy in cancer patients.
  6. Hearing Implant: Evaluation of an active piezoelectric bone conduction hearing implant.
  7. Essential Tremor Treatment: An update on the use of high-intensity focused ultrasound in treating essential tremor.
  8. Pediatric Cancer Treatment: Evaluating cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for treating pediatric patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis.
  9. Cervical Cancer Screening: Exploring the use and effectiveness of self-taking tests for determining Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in cervical cancer screening programs.
