Mears, who has been leading a Welsh health board, will be sharing experiences and insights from the integrated systems that have been operational in the seven Health Boards in Wales for over a decade. As the NHS in England is just beginning to navigate the realm of integration, the focus will be on what England can learn from the Welsh experience.

The webinar will explore various aspects of the healthcare system in Wales including its structure, key decision-makers, how the integrated healthcare system operates, and how it compares to the system in England. Other topics include how priorities are set, the factors that shape decision-making at the health board level, the nuances of the Welsh health system, and how Welsh Health Boards collaborate with the industry.

Paul Mears has been at the helm of Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board since September 2020 and is the national CEO lead in the Welsh NHS for innovation. He also spearheads the delivery of value-based healthcare across the country.

Before his current role, Mears worked as an independent management consultant advising clients in the public and private healthcare sectors, as well as digital healthcare businesses. His former roles include being the Chief Executive of Yeovil District Hospital in Somerset and the Chief Operating Officer at Torbay Hospital.

Participants are invited to put forward questions to Paul during the session. Those who are unable to attend the webinar but are interested in the topic can still register and will receive a recording of the webinar.

The webinar is free and open to all market access, patient access, field-based, and other healthcare professional-facing teams in pharmaceutical and medtech companies. It also welcomes attendees from the NHS.
