Medicine Precision Platform: Lifespin and Acıbadem University Announce Partnership

Similar articles

Medicine advancements are at the forefront as Germany-based medical technology manufacturer Lifespin has partnered with Istanbul’s Acıbadem University (ACU) to establish an AI-driven metabolomics precision medicine platform. This collaboration aims to expand Lifespin’s innovative precision medicine technologies into Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, positioning Istanbul as the central hub.

Under the agreement, Lifespin and ACU will create a precision medicine platform that captures individual metabolomes using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements combined with AI algorithms. This platform will be deployed across ACU’s network via a software as a service (SaaS) model, providing these advanced technologies at competitive rates. This partnership will help to enhance the accessibility and application of precision medicine tools, particularly in underserved regions.

Metabolomics involves the large-scale study of metabolites within cells. In certain diseases, the ratios of metabolites differ significantly from the standardized healthy baseline, making these ratios valuable quantitative biomarkers for specific diseases. By analyzing individual metabolic data, a metabolomics precision medicine platform can tailor personalized medical treatments.

Lifespin launched its first commercial product, the Lifespin Amino Acid Profiler (LAAP), in May 2023. The LAAP uses NMR to scan hundreds of metabolites in a patient’s blood sample, creating a digital twin of the patient. This digital twin is then compared to other patient profiles in Lifespin’s proprietary database, facilitating precise and personalized medical interventions.

Lifespin and ACU’s partnership targets expansion into Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, with a specific focus on the Middle East. According to Lifespin’s CEO, Ali Tinzali, there is a significant opportunity for precision medicine adoption in these regions. Established organizations in the Western world often struggle to keep pace with rapid advancements in AI and technology, whereas markets in the Middle East, such as Hong Kong and the Emirates, quickly adapt to new technologies.

Medicine Precision: Collaboration Establishes Regional Data Center to Support Global Distribution of Lifespin’s Products

The collaboration also involves establishing a regional data analysis and production center laboratory. This facility will support the global development and distribution of Lifespin’s products, reinforcing the partnership’s commitment to advancing medical technology and making precision medicine tools more accessible worldwide.

Lifespin’s CEO, Ali Tinzali, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Acıbadem University to push the boundaries of AI-based precision medicine tools in the healthcare provider sector. Our combined efforts will not only advance medical technology but also make these tools for personalized medicine more accessible.”
