The tool, designed to facilitate informed decision-making between patients and healthcare professionals, has been enhanced to include a wealth of revised and current information about the disease and its pharmacological treatments.

This innovative web tool allows users to compare different treatment options effectively. It is tailored specifically to aid those affected by multiple sclerosis, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding their treatment paths. The inclusion of the SeleccionEM interactive application within the tool further assists users by allowing them to explore and compare disease-modifying options based on frequency, efficacy, and method of administration.

AQuAS’s release highlights the tool’s utility in accommodating patient preferences and reducing uncertainties in treatment decisions. The web tool includes links to relevant information and a section featuring patient experiences with various treatment options, providing clear and understandable insights into their expectations and outcomes.

Enhancing Patient Autonomy: A New Tool for Multiple Sclerosis Care Decision-Making

The updated tool not only offers informational content but also promotes a shift in healthcare models. It fosters an environment where both professionals and patients actively and jointly participate in the decision-making process. This approach enhances the autonomy and knowledge of patients, allowing them to better understand their condition and the available treatments, as well as the potential outcomes of their choices.

The development of this tool involved collaboration with numerous healthcare professionals from respected institutions such as the Health Foundation Empordà, Parc Taulí de Sabadell, Moisès Broggi Hospital, and the University of Girona, among others. Shared Decisions Tool Supports Informed Choices in Multiple Sclerosis Care

In alignment with the Health Plan 2021-2025, this initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance public health policy participation and ensure that citizens and patients have access to comprehensive, understandable, and easily accessible information about their health. This is crucial for facilitating shared decision-making, particularly in a healthcare landscape as complex as that of multiple sclerosis.

The Shared Decisions tool is available online and continues to support the choice of the most suitable treatment options, reflecting the current administration’s commitment to responsive and adaptable healthcare solutions.
